Baseball Recap: Jennings County Takes a Loss

Jennings County had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-6 to make it seven. They lost 12-0 to Bloomington South. Jennings County was not able to make up for their loss to Bloomington South from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Bloomington South, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Bloomington South's part, Collin Marcum tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Marcum also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bloomington South is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reid Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Jennings County and Bloomington South will both be playing Columbus East the next time they take the field. Jennings County will host Columbus East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Bloomington South will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
