Liberty is 1-9 against Heritage since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Liberty has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Liberty took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Freedom, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Falcons 3-2.
Liberty was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8.
Liberty relied on the efforts of Ashlyn Cruz, who had ten digs and five aces, and Siena Ahlrich, who had 24 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Ahlrich has posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Antioch 3-0 on Tuesday.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Heritage took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-6, 25-11.
Liberty now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Heritage, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Liberty suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Heritage in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' Camy De La Chevrotiere, who had four aces and three digs. Now that the Lions know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
