Softball Recap: Perry Central's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Perry Central dropped their record down to 13-12-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-7 loss on Thursday.

Perry Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Johnston, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Southeast Lauderdale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.

On Southeast Lauderdale's side, Allie Carney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Carney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rayden King was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Izzi King also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

While Perry Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
