Marco Island Academy extends home losing streak to four

The Marco Island Academy Rays's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Southwest Florida Christian 70-39. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marco Island Academy in their matchups with Southwest Florida Christian: they've now lost seven in a row.
Marco Island Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Veleon Nazarko, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nazarko pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Jones, who scored 15 points.
Marco Island Academy bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Southwest Florida Christian, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Marco Island Academy will square off against Ida Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ida Baker is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
