Recap: Cox Mill Chargers vs. Garinger Wildcats

The Cox Mill Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Garinger by a score of 42-40.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Alexander, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Jackson, who scored four points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cox Mill were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Garinger found their leader in underclassman Misa Garris, who scored 22 points along with eight steals. Garris is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Imonee Patterson was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Cox Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Garinger, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Cox Mill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Garinger will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Statesville at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
