Fredericksburg and Canyon Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Billies will square off against Canyon Lake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fredericksburg has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Canyon Lake will arrive with three straight wins.

On Friday, Fredericksburg came up short against Navarro and fell 8-3. That's two games in a row now that the Billies have lost by exactly five runs.

Fredericksburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Boswell, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Canyon Lake came out on top against Bandera on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. Canyon Lake had just enough and edged out Bandera 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Canyon Lake has posted since February 27th.

Carter Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Michael Anderson was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gram Simpson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Fredericksburg's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Canyon Lake, their record is now 21-11-1.

Fredericksburg suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Canyon Lake in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can the Billies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
