Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Wildcats vs. Dorman Cavaliers

The Lexington Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Dorman Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Lexington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over Boiling Springs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Dorman had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight last Friday. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with an 11-5 win. Considering the Cavaliers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Dorman pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9-1.

Lexington was able to grind out a solid win over Dorman when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
