Baseball Recap: Conway Springs Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Conway Springs dropped their record down to 7-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 5-0 to the Chaparral Roadrunners. The Cardinals were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Roadrunners' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For Chaparral's part, not much got past Daxton Hostetler, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Conway Springs off the board.

At the plate, Chaparral's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Austin Hazel, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Hazel has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Ty Hadsall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Conway Springs will take on rival Cheney on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chaparral is set to challenge their familiar foe Belle Plaine at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
