Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Comes Up Short

Notre Dame Prep had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-16 to make it five. They lost 14-2 to the Arizona College Prep Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on Tuesday.

Notre Dame Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Meadow Davey, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Daelynn Flowers was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Arizona College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Arizona College Prep's side, Liliana Gagnon looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Estrella, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Paula Cantu, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame Prep will challenge Campo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Arizona College Prep, they will head out to take on Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Scorpions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
