Basketball Recap: Delphi Community Takes a Loss

Delphi Community had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-1 to make it nine. They fell 53-40 to the Rossville Hornets. While the Oracles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 19-13 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Delphi Community still got an impressive performance from Ava Mills, who posted 13 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Mills is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Kiya Anderson was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

As for Rossville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 50.7 points this season.

Rossville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Burkle, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 12 points along with eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Gorbett, who put up 14 points and four steals.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Delphi Community is set to face off against their familiar foe Clinton Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rossville will square off against rival Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
