Baseball Recap: Sedgwick Cardinals vs. Bennington Bulldogs

Sedgwick stacked a 17th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past the Bennington Bulldogs 18-7. Sedgwick's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackson Scarlett was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Scarlett was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sedgwick got a massive performance out of Sterling Lies, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jeff Nold, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.

The win (which was Sedgwick's 13th in a row) raised their record to 17-3. As for Bennington, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Sedgwick will take on Inman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sedgwick knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Inman likes a good challenge. As for Bennington, they will head out on the road to take on Republic County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bennington is facing Republic County at the right time seeing as Republic County is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
