Baseball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

If Taft was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Lake View on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northside Mustangs on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Giuseppe Lampignano was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Tayshawn Miller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Taft has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Northside, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Looking ahead, Taft will head out to take on Lake View at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mather at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
