Recap: Steinbrenner Warriors vs. Sickles Gryphons
The Steinbrenner Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sickles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Steinbrenner of the 51-48 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Steinbrenner still got an impressive performance from Justice Momrik, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Manny Torres, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Steinbrenner has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Sickles, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 11-12.
Steinbrenner will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Wharton at 8:00 p.m. on January 29th. Wharton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Sickles, they will square off against Plant City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
