Football Recap: Providence Day Skates Past Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] with Ease

Providence Day won against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee last Friday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Chargers claimed a resounding 55-21 win over the Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] Cougars. Considering the Chargers have won five matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Zaid Lott had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Criswell, who rushed for 71 yards and one TD.

Providence Day was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Providence Day's defense and their eight sacks. Griff Galloway led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Justin Abanquah is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last four games he's played.

The victory keeps Providence Day at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.3 points this season. As for Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy], the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Providence Day will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Christ School at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy], they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
