Recap: Somerset Prep vs. Mater Academy Charter Lions
If Somerset Prep were riding high off their 81-52 takedown of the Flanagan Falcons last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Somerset Prep was beaten by Mater Academy Charter 66-25 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 81 points in the game before, Somerset Prep couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mater Academy Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jan Alicea, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Davis, who scored 13 points.
Somerset Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Mater Academy Charter, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset Prep will take on Elite Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mater Academy Charter, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
