Softball Recap: Oak Hill Takes a Loss

Oak Hill had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it seven. They came up short against the Northwest Mohawks, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Oaks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Oak Hill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charissa Kranitz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Northwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

On Northwest's side, Annika Carpenter made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Carpenter has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kendra Bostwick was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laikyn Puckett, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Hill will face off against East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwest, they will take on Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
