Softball Recap: Biddeford's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

If Biddeford was feeling good fresh off their 15-1 takedown of Portland last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 9-4 to the Massabesic Mustangs on Monday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mariah Villandry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Gabby Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

With the defeat, Biddeford broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. As for Massabesic, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Biddeford will be playing at home against Noble at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Massabesic, they will take on Kennebunk at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
