Recap: Cape Hatteras Hurricanes vs. Croatan Cougars
The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Croatan, falling 70-24. Cape Hatteras was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.
When it comes to explaining why Cape Hatteras lost, one person who can't be blamed is Griffin Couch. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with 9 blocks. Couch scored a full 50% of Cape Hatteras' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Croatan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Green led the charge by scoring 23 points along with 5 rebounds. The matchup was Green's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kannon McBride, who scored 15 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists.
Cape Hatteras' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Croatan, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Cape Hatteras will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at 6:30 p.m. Croatan's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ocracoke at 12:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Ocracoke is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
