Basketball Game Preview: Nogales Nobles vs. Baldwin Park Braves

The Nogales Nobles will challenge the Baldwin Park Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Nogales is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Montclair by a score of 60-57 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Nobles have suffered since January 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, Baldwin Park suffered their biggest loss since February 1, 2024 on Saturday. They were dealt a 91-37 defeat at the hands of Ambassador. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1105th, while the Lions are ranked 455th).

Nogales will need focus on slowing down Rafael Godinez, one of several Baldwin Park players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points. Joseph Rojas was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Baldwin Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Baldwin Park's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Nogales, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Nogales came up short against Baldwin Park when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 62-58. Can Nogales avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
