Baseball Game Preview: Perry Maroons vs. Victory Christian Conquerors

Perry is a perfect 3-0 against Victory Christian since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Maroons will head out to square off against the Conquerors at 4:30 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Perry's offense. They fell 3-0 to Chickasha on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Maroons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Victory Christian entered their tilt with Eufaula on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Ironheads 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Conquerors, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jake Butterfield made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob Earnhardt was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Journey Boswell, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Victory Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Perry, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Perry beat Victory Christian 4-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
