Basketball Recap: Maplewood Comes Up Short

Maplewood lost against Hume-Fogg back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Maplewood Panthers took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Blue Knights are ranked 40th).

Michael Nwoye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hume-Fogg, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. The game was Nwoye's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Rj Dunlap, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Maplewood and nudges their season record down to 13-11. As for Hume-Fogg, their victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hume-Fogg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lawson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hume-Fogg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.6 points per game this season.
