Basketball Recap: East Moline Christian Takes a Loss

East Moline Christian came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Morning Star Academy Mustangs, falling 45-13. The Eagles have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Morning Star Academy found their leader in freshman Abigail Smith, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in shooting accuracy (70%). Violet Jewell was another key player, putting up four points along with ten boards and four blocks.

East Moline Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Morning Star Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, East Moline Christian will host First Baptist Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something East Moline Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morning Star Academy, they have already played their next match, a 43-29 win against Unity Christian on the 7th.
