The Gilroy Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Branham Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilroy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

While Gilroy's victory against Santa Teresa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs skirted past the Saints 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won six in a row.

Ariela Yslava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Averi Peters was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Branham and Ann Sobrato meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bruins walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

Branham also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jacque Connolly - Hojas gave up only one earned run on six hits. Connolly - Hojas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Gilroy's record is now 13-6. As for Branham, their record now sits at 9-10.

Gilroy came out on top in a nail-biter against Branham when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
