Softball Recap: Foothill Takes Down Castro Valley in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foothill walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Castro Valley Trojans a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Myra Galzie, who gave up just four hits to keep Castro Valley off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Novitske, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brea Olsen, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 14-8-1. As for Castro Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5.

Coming up, Foothill is taking a road trip to face off against California at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Castro Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
