Football Recap: Russell Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Russell Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 57-26 takedown of Cornerstone Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors lost 56-36 to the Columbus Christian Academy rams on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Russell Christian Academy lost, don't look at Bo Morphis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 207 yards on only 17 passes. Another player making a difference was Carter Simmons, who rushed for 79 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Columbus Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Imonn Hill rushed for 237 yards and four TDs on only eight carries and Matthew Benge rushed for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. Hill's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of David Easterling, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Russell Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Columbus Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Russell Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-0 victory against Tuscaloosa Christian on the 19th. As for Columbus Christian Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-38 win against Delta Streets Academy on the 19th.
