Basketball Recap: Hondo Valley Eagles vs. Mountainair Mustangs
Hondo Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-42 loss at the hands of the Mountainair Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 64-27 loss two weeks ago.
Mountainair's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcos Sisneros led the charge by dropping a double-double with 27 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Sisneros has posted since back in December of 2024. Brody Brazil was another key player, shooting 7-for-11 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards.
Hondo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Mountainair, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.
Hondo Valley has already played their next contest, a 52-41 victory against Carrizozo on the 18th. As for Mountainair, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-50 win against Alamo Navajo on the 15th.
