Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Palmer Terrors

For the second straight game, Coronado will face off against Palmer. The Cougars will welcome the Terrors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Coronado's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Palmer.

Max Garza and Jett Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garza tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mills didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Garza also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Coronado is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise. At bat, Garza scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Mills went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Garza a new career-high.

In other batting news, Turner Whitney was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Coronado is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Palmer, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.
