Walter Johnson waltzed into their matchup  on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Wootton Patriots by a score of  51-41. Given the Wildcats' advantage  in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings  (they are ranked 29th, while the Patriots are ranked 99th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Walter Johnson got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Kendall Alexander out in front who  posted 15 points in addition to seven  steals and six  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Naamiah Corke, who  had nine points and eight  rebounds.
 Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Maya Bellamy, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 16  points and nine  boards. Another player making a difference was  Naima Cho-Khaliq, who  put up five  points and 11  rebounds.
Walter Johnson's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Wootton,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-3.
 Walter Johnson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  contest,  an  89-2  victory against Northwood on the 10th. As for Wootton, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  game,  a  57-49  defeat against Whitman on the 10th.
