Baseball Recap: Plattsmouth Comes Up Short

Plattsmouth dropped down to 5-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Ralston Rams. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Ralston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

For Ralston's part, Daniel Blaufuss tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Brayden Vandervort was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Jenkins, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plattsmouth will face off against Malcolm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ralston, they will square off against Platte Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ralston will need to watch out since Platte Valley has now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
