Cobden made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Century, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Appleknockers fell just short of the Centurions by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Appleknockers haven't had much luck with the Centurions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mason Lyerla was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Lyerla wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Micah Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Galatia/Thompsonville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with a 19-7 victory. Considering the Bearcats have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Galatia/Thompsonville let Colin Jenkins and Connor Campbell run wild. Jenkins went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Campbell went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Jenkins a new career-high. Bryson Roberts also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Galatia/Thompsonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Galatia/Thompsonville pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cobden, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Cobden might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Galatia/Thompsonville when the teams last played back in March. Can the Appleknockers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
