Richmond waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They strolled past the Union Pines Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.
Richmond can attribute much of their success to Terande Spencer, who went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Hamilton, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.
Union Pines' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kingsley Donaldson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Kyle, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
The win got Richmond back to even at 7-7. As for Union Pines, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Scotland at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Union Pines, they will welcome Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union Pines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.1 points per game this season.
