Volleyball Recap: Eastern Wayne Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Eastern Wayne managed to slip by Smithfield-Selma the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors came up short against the Spartans on Monday, falling 3-0. The Warriors' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 25-14.

Karmen Cyrus was a one-woman wrecking crew For Smithfield-Selma. as she had 16 assists and seven aces. Those seven aces gave Cyrus a new career-high. Kaylie Gilyardi was another key player, getting eight kills and two aces.

Eastern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Smithfield-Selma, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Wayne will face off against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smithfield-Selma, they will square off against South Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
