Baseball Recap: Metea Valley Takes a Loss

Metea Valley extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-12 in the process. They fell 9-4 to the Naperville North Huskies. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Metea Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Behrns, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Naperville North, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Naperville North's side, they got a great performance from Yash Desai as he struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Desai a new career-high.

At the plate, Max Steele was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Vorwick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Metea Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
