Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Oak Glen's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Oak Glen made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Edison, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Mattie Carney made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Holden, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kayla Wright was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI.

Oak Glen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Oak Glen will challenge Weir at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edison, they will face off against Meadowbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
