The Fairhaven Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the West Bridgewater Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Wednesday.
Fairhaven came out on top against Durfee on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Blue Devils never let the Hilltoppers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by exactly 12 runs.
Brianna Pierce made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kennedy Allain was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Aislyn Flynn also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fairhaven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .476 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
While West Bridgewater didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on South Shore Vo-Tech with a sharp 19-0 win on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.
Like Fairhaven, West Bridgewater also got a great game from a two-way player: Regan Bryant. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Bryant a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alanna Fidalgo and Jillian Foley did most of the damage at the plate: Fidalgo went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Foley went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Foley a new career-high. Haylee Krakowski was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Fairhaven's record is now 5-0. As for West Bridgewater, their record now sits at an identical 5-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairhaven has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Bridgewater struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairhaven couldn't quite finish off West Bridgewater when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
