Recap: Axtell Longhorns vs. Valley Mills Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Axtell Longhorns can now relate to. They took a 29-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley Mills on Thursday. Axtell's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Valley Mills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cason Johnson, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Elandis Taylor, who threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Valley Mills, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Axtell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley Mills will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Tioga. Tioga will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
