Basketball Game Preview: Kelley Mariners vs. McGregor Mercuries

Kelley is 1-9 against McGregor since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Kelley Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the McGregor Mercuries at 6:15 p.m.

Kelley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 63-51 to North Woods. One positive for the Mariners, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

While McGregor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Laporte on Monday as McGregor made off with a 60-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mercuries.

McGregor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Kelley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Kelley was dealt a bruising 57-27 defeat at the hands of McGregor in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Kelley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
