Basketball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. East Carteret Mariners

Southside is on a three-game streak of home losses, East Carteret a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Southside Seahawks will host the East Carteret Mariners at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Southside is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since January 3rd on Tuesday. They took a blow against Lejeune, falling 80-46.

The losing side was boosted by Josh Armstrong, who posted 15 points and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Satchell, who had 12 points.

Even though they lost, Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, East Carteret finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 69-30 loss at the hands of Lejeune. The contest marked the Mariners' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for East Carteret, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
