Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is GRACE Christian's Fifth in Last Six Outings

If Cary Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played GRACE Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Michael Phillips II. The GRACE Christian Eagles took down the Cary Christian Knights 62-44 on Friday thanks in part to Phillips II, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Cary Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrew Neal, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds, and Cennoth Kalisiak, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points. That was a full 43.2% of Cary Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

GRACE Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Cary Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-1.

GRACE Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-40 win against Calvary Day School on the 14th. Cary Christian will take on Cary Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Cary Christian's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Cary Academy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
