Basketball Recap: Perry Meridian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hailey Mullins and Mariah Thomas

Perry Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 60-43 to the Bloomington North Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Cougars are ranked 157th).

Perry Meridian's loss came despite strong showings from Mariah Thomas and Hailey Mullins. Thomas posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Mullins went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Those five assists gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Raymer, who put up six points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Perry Meridian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bloomington North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rilynn Williams led the charge by going 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Robbennolt, who had 12 points.

Perry Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bloomington North, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Perry Meridian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-40 defeat against Lowell on the 27th. As for Bloomington North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-40 victory against Mooresville on the 27th.
