Recap: Buckeye Bucks vs. Black River Pirates
The Buckeye Bucks had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Black River 54-35 on Saturday. Buckeye's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Buckeye got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tami Chovancova out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Chovancova scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ruby Hudak, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Buckeye's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-20. As for Black River, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Buckeye will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Copley at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Black River, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Oberlin at 6:00 p.m.
