Baseball Game Preview: Botkins Trojans vs. Shawnee Indians

The Botkins Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Shawnee Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Botkins will be strutting in after a win while Shawnee will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Botkins made easy work of Troy Christian and carried off a 9-3 victory.

Will Monnin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Botkins' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carter Huelsmeyer, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Van Wert hit Shawnee with a 12-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Cougars, falling 16-1. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cougars since Monday.

Botkins' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
