Basketball Recap: Freeman Scotties vs. Medical Lake Cardinals
If the Freeman Scotties were riding high off their 67-46 takedown of the Riverside Rams last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Freeman lost to the Cardinals at home by a decisive 43-29 margin on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Freeman has scored all season.
Logan Pecht and Taylee Phelps certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Pecht scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Phelps dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 48.3% of Freeman's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Freeman's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Medical Lake, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Freeman will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Washington (Medical Lake is ranked 128th, while the Scotties are ranked 119th). As for Medical Lake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Scotties at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Freeman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
