Basketball Game Preview: Fryeburg Raiders vs. Gray-New Gloucester Patriots

Fryeburg is 2-8 against Gray-New Gloucester since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Fryeburg Raiders will challenge the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Fryeburg is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 71-17 to Mt. Ararat, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Eagles are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Gray-New Gloucester unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brunswick.

Gray-New Gloucester's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Fryeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Fryeburg barely slipped by Gray-New Gloucester in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 54-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fryeburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
