Basketball Recap: Sabino Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

If Canyon del Oro wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sabino, they should've done a better job of containing Jayda Haley. The Sabino Sabercats blew past the Canyon del Oro Dorados, posting a 57-27 win thanks in part to Haley, who went 15 of 27 en route to 32 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sabino's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chayil Combs, who posted 14 points and six steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January.

Despite the loss, Canyon del Oro had strong showings from Kenzie Etter, who put up eight points and six rebounds, and Madisen Fleury, who had six points and three steals. Jasmine Spencer was another key player, putting up four points.

Sabino moved to 9-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Canyon del Oro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Sabino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-21 defeat against Sunnyside on the 27th. As for Canyon del Oro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-17 win against Tanque Verde on the 27th.
