Meanwhile, Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against South View, falling 3-0.

Douglas Byrd took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-10, 25-12.

Douglas Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for E.E. Smith, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

E.E. Smith beat Douglas Byrd 3-1 when the teams last played back in September. Will the Golden Bulls repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
