Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends South Lyon's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but South Lyon unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the St. Mary's Prep Eaglets by a score of 2-1. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eaglets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Julia Kavaliauskas paced South Lyon's offense, picking up seven kills. Kavaliauskas got some help from Lucy Stoll and her 19 assists. Finally, Stoll was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Ava Merlo was the offensive standout of the match as she had nine digs and one assist.

South Lyon's loss dropped their record down to 24-6. As for St. Mary's Prep, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 24-6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. South Lyon will take on South Lyon East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's Prep, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Detroit Country Day at 6:30 p.m. on the 14th.
