Andrew won the last time they faced Sandburg and things went their way on Thursday too. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Thunderbolts who were credited with the win. The Andrew Thunderbolts got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to the Sandburg Eagles' six. The victory was all the more spectacular given Andrew's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Sandburg are ranked 46th).

Andrew was without their leading scorer, Nate Fortino, in Thursday's contest. With Fortino sidelined, Carson Solomon got his first action of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Andrew and bumps their season record up to 5-5-2. As for Sandburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Andrew didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-2 loss against Lockport on the 27th. As for Sandburg, they will head out to face off against Lincoln-Way East at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
