Football Game Preview: Columbia River Rapids vs. Washougal Panthers + How To Watch

The Columbia River Rapids will take on the Washougal Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Columbia River sitting on three straight victories and Washougal on five.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Columbia River beat Ridgefield 19-14.

Savion McCoy was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 102 yards and two TDs, and also caught one score.

Columbia River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Aedan Pena was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.

Meanwhile, while Washougal put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for R.A. Long. The Panthers blew past the Lumberjacks 62-0. That 62 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

A big part of Washougal's win came down to the chemistry between Tripp Leifsen and his top target Deondrae Goodell. Leifsen threw for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Goodell picked up 80 receiving yards and one score. Goodell showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 63 yards.

One reason for the win was Washougal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Travis Lundberg and Owen MacDonald, who racked up 4.5 sacks between them. MacDonald has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 12 times he's played. Washougal received some extra help from Michael Camp, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Columbia River's record now sits at 5-1. As for Washougal, their record is now 6-1.

Columbia River was taken down by Washougal 45-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Rapids avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
