Basketball Recap: Helias Triumphs

Helias saw some tournament action on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Notre Dame de Sion Storm 55-53.

Notre Dame de Sion lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Abby Wendte, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Wendte has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Sydney Blaine was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Helias has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Notre Dame de Sion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Helias wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-48 victory against Jefferson City on the 28th. As for Notre Dame de Sion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-53 win against Boonville on the 28th.
